Commissioning is just wrapping up and the Soham Solar Farm will start feeding carbon-free electricity into the grid on 21 December
After nearly 3 years of development, the 12 MW solar farm at Triangle Farm in Soham is about to begin generating. Cambridgeshire County Council was fortunate enough to have secured EU grant funding from Intelligent Energy Europe and Contracts for Difference in their first auction to support the project. The project was installed by Bouygues Energies and Services, Ltd. over a 4 week period and will be generating for years to come. The system will generate enough electricity per year to supply electricity to over 3,000 homes. Once all the construction equipment is removed and the site closed off, the farm will be host to flocks of sheep who will crop grass under the rows of panels.
