Do you use Trumpington Park & Ride?

The Energy Investment Team will be at Trumpington Park & Ride on Monday and Tuesday morning next week to talk to commuters and residents about a new clean energy project being considered for the site.

If you're there, please pop along and give them your thoughts:

Monday 19 March from 7.30am – 9.30am

Tuesday 20 March from 7.30am – 9.30am

As a County Council, we’re looking for innovative new ways of using our assets to generate clean energy and revenue for much-needed public services. So with partner, Bouygues Energies & Services, the team are in the early stages of designing a smart energy grid at the site, which will include solar modules mounted on carports above the car parking spaces.

These modules will generate clean, renewable electricity to power not only the site, but also for electric vehicle chargers, adjacent customers and autonomous vehicles planned for 2019.

This project could pave the way for public transport to move away from fossil fuels, a known contributor to poor air quality. The same team has been designing a similar project has been planned for the St Ives Park & Ride, on the northern end of the Guided Busway.

So please come, meet the team and have your say! Your input will be vital in shaping the future of the project. Alternatively, a suggestion box will be available all week at the Park & Ride.

If you’re unable to meet the team but would like to have a say, please complete our survey or contact mlei@cambridgeshire.gov.uk with your questions.
