Cambridgeshire County Council, in partnership with Bouygues Energies & Services, built a 12MW solar farm on Rural Estate land in Soham. The project benefits from a Contract for Difference which pays an incentive for electricity produced. The revenue generated will be used to provide valuable front-line services. The 45,000 panel farm went live in April 2017. The project was supported by Savills, Local Partnerships and Low Carbon Contracts Company.
